Reasons Why Mendoza do the hostage taking

As i watched the news last night and watching those police and SWAT team in the hostage process i think they need more training for that kind of scenario
actually it wont really happen if the negotiators or someone in higher rank act fast. there has a lot of casualties especially when police arrest the brother
of the hostage taker (dismissed Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza) in which Mendoza sees what the police did to his brother so that is the time he try to be violent
with his hostages. that is one of the big mistake of the Police. I think they are just train to kill and not to negotiate.

Mendoza was thought to have fired warning shots anew as he saw his brother, Senior Police Officer 2 Gregorio Mendoza and a young man said to be Rolando’s son, being hauled away by police.
negotiations.

Tulfo entered the cordoned area after Mendoza posted another message on the bus that said, "Media now."
Tulfo was briefed by the police about the situation.
Mendoza posted the "Media now" message some 30 minutes after 3 p.m., the hour by which police negotiators and media were expecting something to happen following a message from Mendoza that stated "Big deal will start after 3 p.m. today."
Earlier in the day, Mendoza posted the message: "Big mistake to correct a big wrong decision.
It was not clear what the armalite-wielding hostage-taker exactly meant by these messages, as police negotiators continued to work to convince Mendoza to let the hostages go.

Mendoza was relieved from his post as chief of the Mobile Patrol Unit in 2008 for his alleged involvement in drug-related crimes and extortion, and was demanding to be reinstated, police said.
Mendoza, who has reaped awards for his work in the police service, was protesting his dismissal early this year for allegedly forcing a hotel chef to swallow shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and for allegedly attempting to extort P20,000 from him during interrogation. Mendoza has denied the charges and has filed an appeal with the Ombudsman.

At past 6 p.m., a single gunshot was heard coming from the bus. Reporters on the scene learned that Mendoza fired a warning shot after rejecting a letter from the Office of the Ombudsman that informed him that he could not be reinstated but nonetheless assured him that his case would be reviewed.

Her 18-year-old son was in intensive care in hospital and her husband died a hero trying to shield his family, said the survivor, identifying herself only as Mrs Leung.
"The Philippine government... I can't accept this. Why did they do this to us?" she told Hong Kong officials who flew to the Manila hospital, in comments shown on Cable News TV.
"(The gunman) did not want to kill us. He only shot us after the negotiations failed," she said, sobbing.

The Standard said Philippine authorities must be held to account.
"What went so terribly wrong?" the English-language daily said.
"What did the gunman tell police during the negotiations? What was the response from the police? The Hong Kong government must also demand that Manila provide answers for the many questions."
But while Manila police defended their actions, Hong Kong leader Tsang complained that he had been unable all Monday to reach Philippine President Benigno Aquino.

For more than 11 hours Monday, Mendoza attracted international attention by holding hostage at least 15 tourists from Hong Kong hostage

Mendoza, interviewed on Radio Mindanao Network shortly before he was killed Monday evening, had said he was ready to die.

He even warned snipers in the area he would not hesitate to “execute" hostages if authorities won’t heed to his demands.

"Handa ako mamatay ngayong araw na ito... Yung mga sniper pag di sila umalis sa kanilang pwesto ay
 sasampolan ko sila," he said.
